In a comic book, the reader is typically asked to create movement in between panels, in the “gutter”. In codex form, the turning of page is almost exclusively used to create inter-panel movement. When in accordion form, the story frames are allowed to mix into each other in the attempt to relay an idea of fluidity between the digital and physical space. While the story is meant to read as a linear narrative in time, it is also meant to give the reader an opportunity to approach the story as a non-linear narrative, going back and forth across the fluidity of the accordion to pickup and return to visual ques in earlier parts of the book.

Meanwhile, while the book is entirely rendered in neutral grey tones, an accent color is utilized to help create the continuity of character throughout the story: with the protagonist going through various stages of form and recognizability, the red accent helps the reader unfold the narrative easily.
The intent was to use white space, line-work, brush and wash techniques to help the narrative of physical world vs digital world, in addition to giving the reader a sense of depth of space in some instances, and an emptiness in others. Ideally the viewer is both reading into this narrative but is meant to be confused by it: “where are we now” should be clear and questioned at the same time.
